After a 14-year break since the release of Crimson Massacre’s Luster of Pandemonium, guitarist and founding member James Jackson felt the pull to dive back into music, but this time with a fresh perspective and a new sound with the creation of NonVector. To bring this vision to life, he teamed up with bassist James Duvall and pianist Vince Patillo. Together, they’ve managed to blend their individual styles into something that’s uniquely their own.
The result of this collaboration was their debut EP, A Short Trip Home. This wasn’t just another record; it was a statement—a showcase of what happens when three musicians with a shared passion for pushing musical boundaries come together. And to make sure the rhythms matched the complexity of their compositions, they brought in the incredible Kevin Talley to handle the drums. His precision and skills were exactly what the project needed to elevate it to the next level.
In 2021, NonVector dropped their single Hypervisor, which gave fans a taste of their evolving sound. It was a clear sign that the band wasn’t content with staying in one place—they were ready to push even further. With the single under their belt, the band set their sights on their first full-length album, Ashen Time.
For this project, they knew they needed a drummer who could enhance their sound in a different way. That’s where Alex Rudinger came in. His drumming brought a new level of intensity and complexity to the album, helping to create something truly special. Ashen Time isn’t just an album—it’s the culmination of years of hard work, experimentation, and the combined talent of everyone involved.
